ABOUT US
SHRC's core values align with AfS Inc.'s purpose in the community. Our mission to change lives by restoring hope and rebuilding our communities through empowerment, education, and economic stimulation. In order to accomplish our goal we solicit the community by providing summer recreation for kids at our Scenic Hills Recreation Center. This program provides kids an outlet to direct their constructive energy and is a positive distraction from crime, due to the lack of summer resources within the communities. Summer is approaching fast! Our 2019 theme is “Fun in the Sun”continues to re-innovate itself with each passing season.
AfS Inc. owns and operates Scenic Hills Recreation Center as a seasonal fundraiser for its charitable programs. The nonprofit is an independent community supported 501c(3) non-profit organization dedicated to helping bridge the gap for individuals and families across the mid-south faced with direct hardship. We do this by providing an outlined platform of opportunities.

Our Mission in the Community

Our focus has been on the "Monarch" butterfly. Butterflies are beneficial to the environment through the symbiotic relationship they maintain with the plants they visit and their preferences for organic, native habitats.
Save the Monarchs
Due to current agricultural practices, genetically modified crops, and pesticide use, the Monarch Butterfly has been affected causing a devastating drop in their numbers. Along with many other passionate organizations, SHRC has decided to plant floral gardens to help create a butterfly habitat to join in saving this single species. We would also like to accommodate those suffering with mental or clinical health by inviting them to a beautiful habitat filled with fresh beautiful flowers which will create a therapeutic environment from a holistic approach.
